Area of Specialization
Agrobacterium tumefaciens, Pantoea citrea and Xanthomonas campestris virulence mechanisms; plasmid biology; plant biotechnology.
Research
Our research program has focused on the following: 1. Elucidating the mechanism of horizontal gene transfer by Agrobacterium tumefaciens; the mechanism of pink disease production by Pantoea citrea; and the mechanism of ingression by Xanthomonas campestris. 2. Determining the structure and function of the T-pilus and the progenitor of the Ros transcriptional regulator. 3. Develop novel tools for molecular biology and genetics. For Plasmid Biology please see: http://conferences.ucdavis.edu/plasmidbiology.
